Jodhpur, the Blue City, welcomed us with its vibrant streets, majestic fort, and the warmth of its people. We stayed in a simple homestay with a breathtaking view of the fortress perched high on the hill. Every morning, we woke up to the golden glow of the rising sun reflecting off the ancient stone walls—a sight that never lost its magic.
One afternoon, while wandering through the narrow, winding alleys of the old city, we stumbled upon Tara’s tiny shop—a hidden treasure no bigger than 3 by 2.5 meters. It was a world in itself, bursting with fabric, handcrafted pieces, and a well-worn chair beside an old sewing machine. Tara, the shop’s owner, greeted us with a warm smile, his hands skillfully working on a new creation as we browsed through the endless layers of colorful textiles.
We bought a few pieces, enchanted by the artistry and detail. But something pulled us back. The next day, we returned—this time with a clearer vision. We knew Tara understood what we were looking for, and he was eager to bring our ideas to life.
Back in the Netherlands, the inspiration kept flowing. We exchanged countless messages, and with every new idea, Tara worked his magic. He crafted the most beautiful pieces, each one telling a story of tradition, skill, and connection. Box after box arrived, filled with treasures made with heart and dedication.
What started as a simple discovery turned into a cherished partnership—one that embodies the very essence of Desertpeople: authentic craftsmanship, deep connections, and the beauty of handmade creations.
