We didn’t expect to return so soon.
Just four months after our last trip, we found ourselves packing bags again, heartbeats quickening with anticipation. India was calling — and how could we not answer?
Since November 2024, we’ve slowly begun dedicating more and more of our time to our dream: DesertPeople.nl. What started as a quiet vision began to take shape. Our energy flowed so naturally toward this new endeavor — there was no stopping us. We knew: we needed to go back. Within a week our trip all our tickets and hotels were booked. And not just to source, but to connect. To speak with the makers, to share our vision, and to begin co-creating the dream products we imagined for Desertpeople.
This journey feels different. Deeper. More rooted.
The first time was magic. The second time… feels like coming home.
From the moment our feet touched the ground, we felt it — that familiar heartbeat of a place that once surprised us, now warmly welcomed us back. The airport air, the layered scents, the sun on our skin — all carried a whisper: you’re back.
This time, we begin in Jodhpur, the magical blue city.
Walking its streets, we instantly remembered where to turn, where the chai was best, where the walls glowed bluest in the morning light. And with us — Tara, our brother and guiding light, who makes everything in Jodhpur more meaningful.
Here, we met suppliers we’d only spoken to online — voices we’d heard, hands we now shook. Real connections, real faces, real laughter. We were welcomed not as strangers, but as friends.
We revisited the treasures that had enchanted us before: natural perfumes that linger like memory,
kantha fabrics full of life, stories, and tiny perfect imperfections, embroidery telling stories and amazing block prints on silk and cotton.
The bustling alleyways that now feel like pathways through our own neighborhood. O, The joy! Seeing smiling familiar faces again — people we met on our first trip, now greeting us like old friends. There’s something indescribable about that kind of warmth.
We’re here again — but it’s not the same. It’s closer. And we can’t wait to take you along with us.
