With a heavy heart, we said goodbye to Pushkar. As the taxi pulled away, we promised ourselves—we’ll return soon. And next time, we’ll stay longer. Longer to soak up the sacred stillness of the lake in the early morning. Longer to sit with the people, to share more stories, more chai. Longer to simply be in the soft, golden warmth that Pushkar offers so generously.
But Jaipur was calling.
There are suppliers waiting, ideas to share, sketches to unfold and transform into new treasures. Jaipur is where the pulse of our work picks up again—the city of tailoring, textiles, and inspiration around every corner.
We drove through a changing landscape, the desert slowly giving way to the grandeur and color of Rajasthan’s capital. Our destination: a hotel in the heart of the city. A peaceful haven tucked between the buzz. There’s a garden where we sit with notebooks, samples, and dreams. We speak of business, of designs, of growth. Of what Desert People can become.
Here we take a massage after long days, sleep deeply in cool rooms, and meet others who, like us, are in love with Indian handicrafts. The hotel hums with quiet ambition—entrepreneurs, importers, artists—each weaving their own story through this vibrant city.Jaipur is fast and full, but somehow it holds us gently. It gives us space to move, to create, to collaborate.
Pushkar touched our hearts. Jaipur moves our hands.
And in between the two, we keep building Desertpeople—one piece, one story, one meaningful connection at a time.
May your days be full of connection too and with you in our heart,
Desertpeople
